Will you be a King or Queen maker?

There is a lot that can be achieved by people acting together and if enough of us decide to take one small action, we can succeed.

To be accurate there are three actions required to make our first King or Queen. First you need to sign up, second you need to vote and lastly you need to purchase the book that is selected.

That's it, it's easy really but if enough people do it we will make one lucky new author an overnight success!

So step 1; Just subscribe to this blog

We will seek out books and you can also nominate them if you wish. I will list them on a website that is currently being created. They must be published with details about the author and book available online. Only *relatively unknown authors will be eligible.

*Authors with any title that has sold above 10,000 will be considered to be 'known'.

Step 2; This will be easy, just view the list presented and vote - one vote each.
Step 3; Once the winner is announced, we will ask you to purchase it even if it isn't a book you voted for or even one you would usually read! Go on, it won't hurt!

Once the website is up and running it will be easy to review the choices but for now, no nominations please. All we need is people to subscribe.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Well folks, thanks for getting here and supporting the cause. This is really day one, step one and we have a long way to go.

The general principle is that together we are going to try and beat the system!

Aspiring authors the world over struggle to get published and then to get the recognition many deserve. Publishers are businesses and they want safe bets, in other words proven authors with a track record. I think we can understand that, but it doesn't help new authors.

So what we will do is create a market exclusively for unknown authors. We will select a book and drive as many sales as possible through our social networks to make it a hit.

Before anyone asks, this won't be my book or any book I'm associated with. I will make absolutely nothing from this initiative except the knowledge that I, hopefully we, have helped somebody else make it. That will be a great feeling!

So it starts today, but unfortunately I have a conference to attend this week so I'll be away tomorrow until the weekend.

When I get back. I'll explain how this is all going to work. In the meantime, why not subscribe to this blog to show your support. Contact names, email addresses etc. will be treated as strictly confidential. They will not go anywhere and I will only use them to inform you of the major milestones i.e. invite you to nominate or vote for a book, or tell you which has won, nothing else.
